 A bit about "Is It On Boy?" Promotions "Is It On Boy?" started life as a promotions company 6 years ago, putting on events at local pubs. Mainly tribute evenings where the bands would do their own interpretations of other peoples songs. This has now escalated to become a Live Music Night Featuring Original Material. After negotiations with the Corn Exchange, Ipswich Entertainments agreed to give us use of "The Venue" Lion Street and after a trial concert to work in conjunction with "Is It On Boy?" Promotions to promote local bands doing original material. Both parties agreed that a venue of this size(250 capacity) is what Ipswich needs to encourage local bands to write and perform their own material in a suitable hall with a full sound and lighting rig. The first event took place in February with The Blind Poets, Violent Playground, Tiny Clocks and Carpet Ride, and was attended by well over 100 people. Since then we have had bands play music from almost every genre (including rock, soul, funk, pop, folk, we've even had a cellist and a hammond organ up on stage) The admission price is being kept low (£3)and patrons will be entertained by four bands a night, the next event being Friday 19th October with Photogenic, Men in Spex, Lapland, and El Spoonio all confirmed to play. We supply most of the equipment that the bands require in order to perform (from the amps, drums and P.A. to the stage management). We will also encourage the bands to bring their records, C.D.'s and merchandise as we have staff who will sell it for them (we do not charge for this service). "Is It On Boy?" Promotions is trying to get local music back on track whilst giving smaller bands a chance to play at a Live gig, some for the first time ever. Is It On Boy would like to hear from any bands that are trying to get started or have started and would like to do a First Gig. |
